Joining forces with the fast food franchise of Hardee's, what better brewery to team up with to create a collaborative and culinary inspired beer in Southern Grist- a Nashville brewery that knows a little something about some good 'ole fashion country cooking.
Strawberry Biscuit Ale kicks off with a pale straw and hazy pour with the slightest smidge of berry pink. As a cottony white head rises, so do the light and fluffy scent of fresh dough, red berry and a light confectioner's sweet scent. Similarly in taste, the malt profile shares hints of fresh bread, biscotti and sweet dough.
Mild mannered and soft on the palate, the Blond Ale glides across the middle palate with sweet grain character that fades gradually into a slight toasty finish. All along, its the taste of red berry that rests upon the malt and casts a blanket of fruitiness that develops a light sourdough tartness in its finish.
Medium-light in body, the beer shows a ton of restraint and delicacy, making it quite underwhelming compared to Southern Grists other and more bold offerings; as well as Hardee's robust marketing campaigns. Finishing grainy-sweet and with a mildly bitter hop balance, the beer is regretfully forgettable in taste. Its a good thing that the label and collaboration efforts of these two groups catch our attentions.
