Fascinating beer and one of those that you’re not quite sure how to approach grading it. Much more East Coast IPA influence — though I wouldn’t say full New England hazie, more Vermont dry, fruity, and floral — than expected given the full West Coast description. Pours an atttactive pale yellow with a touch of light haze that looks more like a saison than IPA. But the head is wonderfully fluffy and effervescent and leaves nice IPA lacing. Aroma is quite fruity and lively but overwhelmed by a huge dankness of full ganja greenery. The combination of fruit and dankness is lovely, but the latter is a little heavy and it’s hardly what I think of when I think classic WC IPA. Pretty consistent on the tongue, though the beer is quite dry and the fruit and dank greens are much more muddled. Pleasant bitterness, some pithy grapefruit, and some piny resin. But again, much more non-WC characteristics than otherwise. Really nice mouthfeel. Pleasant and enjoyable sipper (if you like dank, weedy beers) but not at all what I expected.
