Not bad. Standard stout appearance. Scents and flavors of chocolate and vanilla with a dark malt background. Bittersweet, roasty. Slightly thin, medium bodied, subtle alcohol.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a two finger khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, lactose, milk chocolate, vanilla (marshmallow) and graham cracker. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, chocolate, graham cracker and marshmallow; some smoke and light hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I've almost given up on desert stouts lately as many are just too sweet for me, but this is a good example of how to do one properly. The picture of a s'more on the can is nicely replicated in both the smell and flavor, with the expected graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow/vanilla. Although a bit sweet, it's at a pleasant level and actually finishes dry. There is more char in the malt than I'd expect from a pastry stout, but then it's perfect for a campfire treat. The mild hop bitterness melds with the malt smoke quite well. Very enjoyable. They nailed this s'more.
