Velvety feel, notes of citrus without over-powering. 8% ABV, but drinks like 5%. Clean finish and great summertime "all-rounder"

Canned on 4-2-24
Pale and cloudy vanilla tinged yellow body. Slight bubbly ivory white head. Lacing comes in thin droopy rings. Aroma is pineapple juice, guava juice and a little strawberry. Flavor is ripe with tropical notes of mango, pineapple and orange. Alcohol has a slight presence. Medium-full bodied and creamy texture. Very good.

10-day-old can enjoyed in a Be Hoppy glass.
Repeating what I said recently with an SG-Hop Butcher, collaboration beer, I like the collabs Southern Grist does with other breweries I’m familiar with because you typically get some familiar notes and personality from both actually showing up in the beer. Once again the case here where this could easily be mistaken for a pure Cerebral hazy, especially on the nose. Gorgeous pale yellow-gold opaque fluid with a creamy and starchy element to it. Fantastic foam and lacing.
Pungently dank, weedy, and oniony greens up front on the nose. Might be off-putting for some, as it's pretty in-your-face. But I'm a sucker for that kind of dankness when there's bold citrus, pine, and tropical fruit notes to balance things out a bit, as is the case here. Little bit of booziness to the nose, as well. Taste profile has an initial juicy semi-sweetness that is lovely but turns dry and dank very quickly. Little-to-no starchiness (and definitely no green burn), but the delicious citrus juice notes get flooded out by greenery and overripe tropical and stone fruit, which is a less appealing combination (to me). Some nice piney punch and pithy bitterness late, with a pleasant berry element in the aftertaste. Soft, velvety, and coating in the mouth, though not chewy and even a little thin. Zero alcohol evident.
Not the best collaboration beer SG has produced, but high quality stuff nonetheless. Just lacking a touch in the taste profile. Still, overall another winning [Insert Juicy ______ ] rendition.

Longer-term edit: tried a well-refrigerated 2-month-old can at a later date and the flavor profile had caught up with the nose. Still ultra-weedy and dank, but slightly better balanced with layers of sweet fruit juice. Awesome finish that’s semi-sweet and slightly puckering with a lingering bitterness. Liked it a lot before, even better with a bit of age on it. Bumped up the taste from 4.0 to 4.25 and did the same for the overall grade.
