On tap at Southern Grist Brewing in Nashville, TN.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like creamy vanilla sweetness and milk chocolate.
Despite how sweet and pastry heavy this is, it’s weirdly flat on the palate to me – it’s just generically sweet, with the lactose sort of blanketing any interesting flavors. Maybe there was too much lactose added here – I’m not entirely sure what happened here. I don’t get very much hazelnut or coffee, maybe some vanilla and chocolate, and definitely no sea salt. This sounded interesting but it just was honestly pretty boring.
This is creamy, but not super drinkable, as the lactose just makes it feel kinda slick and not clean.
I’ve liked most of the Southern Grist beers I’ve had, but this was disappointing.
