Canned 04/22/25, into a Troegs pint glass.
Pours a thick, rich magenta with plenty of pink foam. Aroma is sour berries, a little creamy vanilla, and some sugary fruits. Flavor delivers on all the promises of both the nose and the can. Thick, rich vanilla ice cream with fresh fruits on top balanced with a little sour bite and a tiny hit of bitterness on the back end. Wow. This is the best sour I've had since the Mortalis one I enjoyed a while ago (although the one I had the other night was good as well, this one is better). Every element is so natural and fresh and it's sweet but not sickly sweet or syrupy. I couldn't call it refreshing, but it's certainly easy to drink. Feel is good, very sticky and just thick enough to make the ice cream flavors feel great.
I don't love kettle sours but Southern Grist and Mortalis can make ones I legitimately really enjoy. This one was worthy of being an anniversary beer just like the 9th Anniversary DIPA, and I look forward to what they make for their 10th next year (and the Southern Grist/Mortalis collab that released on Friday).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
