This was another beer that I picked up at the Total Wine in Baton Rouge when I was down that way not too long ago. Never heard of MSY before and this turned out to be a decent take on an American Lager that was easy to enjoy, checked off all the proverbial boxes, and didn't have any flaws to it.
Amber, bubbly, and softly radiant, this had a nice appearance to it as enough head topped it off and enough spotty suds stuck around as lacing, with a thin ring near the top of my pint glass topping them off. Lots of malt an European hops were in the nose with some grain and cereal rounding out the aroma. The taste was pretty even keeled as this had a German feel to it with hints of bread, exotic New Zealand hops, and bitter and white chocolate sweetness in the aftertaste.
Somewhat sticky and pretty cloying, this had a decent body to it that was plenty full but offset by just enough carbonation to keep this from feeling weighted down. No date was to be found anywhere on the can but this felt fresh as there wasn't any sediment in the liquid. This was a common lager that was just enough uncommon to hold my interest, and warrant another look at Second Line the next time I'm in the Pelican State!

MSY Common Lager has an extremely thick, spongy, off-white head, with an opaque, bubbly orange appearance. The lacing is minimal, but the lager clouds up, following the "swish & pour". The aroma is of pungent, yeasty white bread crust. The flavor is of sweet, funky white bread crust and lots of bitterness. MSY Common Lager has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish.

Color: Amber
Smell: Bread and grains
Taste: very nice balance of malty sweetness with bitter finish.
It’s a hearty lager that will compliment the fall weather, though the brewers tout it as a year-round beer. It has the feel of a Märzen. Quite good. It would compliment any hearty dish.
