Evangeline, our beloved gose, makes its first appearance in cans—and it has arrived right in time for these long, warm days. Inspired by the traditional style originating in Goslar, Germany, this beauty is built on a base of California-grown Pils malt and wheat, and fermented warm with lactobacillus, creating a light tartness. In continuation of tradition, this ale is brewed with pink Himalayan sea salt and organic Indian coriander; we also added locally-sourced organic grapefruit for a bright twist. Evangeline comes out of the tanks ready to refresh the senses on a hot summer’s day, with essences of lemon sorbet, iced herbal tea, and a saltiness reminiscent of the cool ocean breeze.

Consumed: July 30, 2022
Misc.: Canned on July 6, 2022; Split (1/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (2/4)
Kevin picked up a 4-pack of this for Sonny and I. Was surprised I hadn’t had this yet. Pure’s email description was “Evangeline, our beloved gose, makes its first appearance in cans—and it has arrived right in time for these long, warm days. Poured a straw clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of fizzy white head, which dissipated quickly. Could see a few different bubble streams coming up from the bottom and side of the glass. Very good foggy-to-foamy lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled salt, pink grapefruit, coriander, floral, lemon, tea, herbal and hints of skunk. About as good from the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got pink grapefruit, lemon, coriander, salt, floral, herbal, tea, honey, plum, purple grape and citrus zest. (Taste - 3.75)
Light body. Thin texture. Lively carbonation. Salty, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
A very good Gose from Pure Project. Not near the top for the style for me but solid. (Overall - 3.75)
