Taster at Great Notion. Dark and black, not too thick no head. Aroma is coffee, roasty, burnt toast. A bit boozy. Taste is bitter, equal parts coffee and roast malts. Lingers , heat too.

Catching up on some notes
Bottle shared by Dave, thanks for the hookup.
Deep black color with a wispy off white head. Roasty earthy caramel and chocolate with a firm but flavorful spiciness. Very tasty beer!

Misc.: Collaboration between Pure Project and Bottle Logic; Canned on Oct. 11, 2017

Picked this up after sampling it with Chad on a recent trip to Pure Project. Liked it the best out of the canned non-IPA options they had at the time. Gave it a 4.25 on Untappd. Realized after the fact that it was brewed with Bottle Logic. Description on the can read, “Imperial Stout with Coffee & Carolina Reaper Peppers.” Kind of right up my alley. Had no idea what Carolina Reaper Peppers were until I looked them up and saw that they were the hottest in the world (2013 Guinness Book of World Records). Didn’t remember this beer being that hot.

Poured a pitch black motor oil color with 1-to-2 fingers of tan frothy head. Slow moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Average lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.50)

Smelled dark chocolate, roasted coffee malts, char wood, cacao nibs, milk chocolate, nutty malts, toasted brown sugar and some chili peppers. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted those dark chocolate notes up front, followed by the spicy chili peppers. Also roasted coffee, char wood, cacao nibs, milk chocolate, nutty malts, wood, chocolate syrup, sticky molasses, hints of coconut (Almond Joy) and lightly toasted brown sugar. That 13 pct. ABV is well hidden. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, spicy, warming finish. (Feel - 5.00)

This was excellent. Just the right amount of spice and coffee. Lovey. (Overall - 4.50)

Wonderful thick and boozy Imperial Stout base, and the pepper burn is there warming the whole thing up. Living in the Southwest I am surrounded by people who really like their peppers hot hot hot. I do as well, for some people not from around here, they think I like it flaming hot, but I do not. This has a constant burn to it without scalding, so I hope you have a chance to try it out. Again, the sweet boozy nature does blend well with the pepper to produce a great middle ground on the taste.

This is one of the best stouts I've ever had. The perfect amount of heat comes through. Nice smell to it as well.

Wanted to like this one, just didn't do it for me.

Lost opportunity by claiming the use of Carolina Reaper Peppers, one of the hottest peppers on the planet, and no heat coming through at all.
