Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $25.00 for a 4-pack
From: Pure Project Brewing in Balboa Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: n/a; Received April 18, 2022
Consumed: April 30, 2022
Misc.: Collaboration with J. Wakefield; Canned on March 29, 2022; Split (1/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (2/4)
Got a can of this from Kevin. Had this once before, giving a taster a 4.25 on Untappd on June 30, 2018 and writing “I usually don’t like sour IPAs, but this is incredible. Excellent, creeping on world class.” Pure Project’s website called it “A multi-dimensional sensory experience, with a fine tuned balance of tartness and sweetness. Bright pink in color from organic dragon fruit from Pitaya Plus, and bright in flavor from a heap of fresh organic raspberries. Smooth, refreshing, and doesn’t even give a hint of the high ABV it’s packing.”
Poured a medium copper/garnet color with six fingers of rocky off-white-to-pinkish head. Could see lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at consistent speeds. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled dragon fruit, guava, plum, purple grape, raspberry, blackberry, berry ice cream, vanilla, floral and perfume. A little better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted much better than the nose. In order got dragon fruit, guava, plum, purple grape, raspberry, blackberry milkshake, vanilla, floral and perfume. That 8.5 pct. ABV is well-hidden. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, tart, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Maybe not quite as good as I had it the first time but pretty damn close. Excellent for a style I don’t necessarily enjoy. (Overall - 4.25)

This one is strange.
The look is a pink/raspberry color with a slight very light pink head that disappears quickly. Slight lacing around the rim.
The smell has raspberry, lactose and some fruit similar to guava. I guess it could be Dragon Fruit. Very slight sour/wine vinegar undertones.
The taste has raspberry, fruit that tastes like guava with a pineapple and grapefruit infusion (probably dragon fruit but since I have never tried the fruit I can't say for sure). Some gentle yeast flavor is in the finish.
Nice feel, medium bodied with a slight stickiness and a tiny prickly carbonation.
Overall I am glad I tried it. Very unique and quite good but I wouldn't search it out.
