Poured from the bottle into a Crooked Stave snifter. Pours a very dark espresso with the thinnest mocha ring, with a remarkable density of coconut floaties. Almost no carbonation; an aggressive pour yielded barely a bubble.
Nose is mostly vanilla, coconut, brandy, toffee, and white chocolate. Palate is rich with all of these flavors, finishing strongly with the white chocolate. Slightly-to-moderately sweet but not cloying. Mouthfeel is rich. Happily, it lacks the suntan oil character that some of Pure's other coconut beers have had.
This stout hides its ABV better than any beer I remember having. I can't believe it's 14.7%. My only real complaint is that I wish there was a little more heat on it (and perhaps some carb too); it comes across as much as liquid candy as it does as a beer.

Misc.: Collab between Pure Project Horus Aged Ales
Snuck out of work to get out to Pure Project to grab their murky IPA and Pure Project snifter glass for $10, but also to try this. So had that murky IPA, then a flight, finishing with this bad boy. Had a sip and instantly decided that I needed to break my rule and review a taster. Called for a brandy barrel-aged imperial stout with coconut and vanilla. Would also be my first Horus Aged Ales beer.
Poured a pitch black color with one finger of off-white head when I got it. Could not see any bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Good lacing and good retention, giving both the benefit of a late review. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled big coconut, vanilla, Mounds, caramel, toffee, cream, hints of butterscotch and white chocolate. Was getting better each sniff. (Smell - 4.50)
Taste was almost perfect. So close. Vanilla, coconut, Mounds bar, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, creamy white chocolate, woody oak, a touch of brandy and espresso (Taste - 4.75)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Smooth, warming finish. (Feel - 4.75)
This beer was unbelievable. World-class and I think I underrated it just a tad. (Overall - 4.75)
