Misc.: Collab between Pure Project and Modern Times
Snuck out of work to get out to Pure Project specifically for this beer, mainly because I got the Pure Project glass with it for a total of $10. It was featuring my two favorite breweries in San Diego with a collab between Pure Project and Modern Times. Was labeled as a Murky IPA with hibiscus and pea flower. Had no idea what pea flower was. Asked for the hops and was told Mosaic and Horizon.
Poured a grape purple murky color with two fingers of off-white frothy head. Slow moving bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Outstanding sporadic lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled floral, skunk, mixed berries, herbal, purple grape, cotton candy and a little Mosaic. (Smell - 3.75)
Nothing too special on the taste. Got floral, viney mixed berries, hibiscus, herbal, purple grape, hints of cotton candy and faint Mosaic. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, dry finish. (Feel - 3.50)
Just not a fan of this really. A perfectly well made beer, but just wasn’t working for me. (Overall - 3.50)

L:. Pours a muddy grey purple that is very hazy. Some lacing on the glass. It looks like mud.
S:. Hibiscus and very flowery, some weediness, not fruity like most hazy ipas but very nice.
T: Hibiscus and very flowery, some weediness, not much bitterness.
F:. Medium body, little sharper than expected due to murkiness but since it is supposed to be more floral than fruity, I think that is on purpose.
O:. A very ugly beer but other than that it is fantastic.
