Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $25 for a 4-pack (split with Sonny)
From: Pure Project Bankers Hill in San Diego, Calif.
Purchased: June 4, 2020
Consumed: June 6, 2020
Misc.: No canned on date
Grabbed this with a host of other beers for an online purchase at Pure Project. I split a 4-pack with Sonny. Online description read, “We teamed up with our San Diego friends over at Modern Times Beer to create this radical Sour Double IPA. Hyperbolic Time Chamber is jam-packed with organic cherry, Colombian guava, and Tahiatian vanilla beans, then hit with hand-selected Nelson and Citra hops to highlight the intense tropical notes. Smooth, bright, and flavorful – an excellent beverage to kick off your summer!” I’m usually not a fan of sour IPAs, but Pure Project has some of the best in my opinion. I’m sure a collab with Modern Times doesn’t hurt either.
Poured a light amber semi-hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white frothy head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Outstanding spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled sour cherry, sugary vanilla, guava. mango, cherry sweet tart candy, grapefruit, pineapple, Citra and hints of Nelson. A little smoother from the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste followed the nose for the most part. In order got cherry, sugary vanilla, guava, mango, Citra, grapefruit, pineapple, cherry sweet tart candy, mixed berry and hints of the mentioned Nelson. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, tart finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Not quite as good as I hoped, but still outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)
