Orange-gold in color with a beautiful white head, Kusanagi is brimming with Wai-iti, Cashmere, and El Dorado hops. The addition of flaked rice produces floral notes and adds a hint of sweetness to this murky double IPA. Notes of clementine, orange blossom, cantaloupe and fig on the nose are followed by flavors of nectarine, cantaloupe and lemon bar on the tongue. Like its Japanese namesake, this smooth-drinking creation is a legend in the making.

Was gone on vacation when this and Shake the Ground came out, but Kevin picked them up. Didn’t get them through Sonny until more than a month later. Pure Project’s email called it an “Orange-gold in color with a beautiful white head, Kusanagi is brimming with Wai-iti, Cashmere, and El Dorado hops. Poured a light amber hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Wai’iti and Cashmere jumped out for the hops with El Dorado on the backend. Specifically stone fruit, peach, nectarine, lemon, lime, orange blossom and melon. A little better out of the can and as it went down. (Smell - 3.75)

Taste was about as good as the nose initially but grew on me a bit as it went down. Got nectarine, peach, stone fruit, Wai’iti, mango, orange blossom, melon, cantaloupe, Cashmere, lemon, lime, El Dorado, cedar, hints of bubblegum and lingering peppery spice. Pretty well hidden for 8.4 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This one really grew on me each sip. Outstanding overall. (Overall - 4.00)
