We're shaking things up with this juicy, full-bodied murky triple IPA. Shake the Ground showcases Talus, a brand new varietal out of the Yakima Chief Hops HBC (Hop Breeding Company), alongside a couple of our go-to hops--Mosaic and Motueka--to complement. Aromas of freshly squeezed grapefruit, passion fruit, guava, and mango give way to flavors of white peach, guava, and lemongrass, with a grapefruit zest finish.

Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $6.25
From: Pure Project Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.
Purchased: n/a, but I think July 1, 2021; Received Aug. 5, 2021
Consumed: Aug 5, 2021
Misc.: No canned on date; Received 1 of a 4-pack with Kevin/Sonny
Was gone on vacation when this and Shake the Ground came out, but Kevin picked them up. Didn’t get them through Sonny until more than a month later. Had a taster of this after on July 15 and gave it a 4.50, writing “Knew this would be terrific and it delivered. Love that Talus hop in my handful of experiences.” Pure Project’s email called it “We're shaking things up with this juicy, full-bodied murky triple IPA. Poured a medium yellow hazy color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class foamy lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled big Moteuka, followed by Talus. Not much Mosaic initially. Also caramel malt, floral, grapefruit, stone fruit, peach, wood, guava, mango, coconut, grass, bubblegum and trash. Much better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted a little better than the nose but not quite as good as I remembered. In order got more Talus than the nose, followed by Motueka and lesser Mosaic. Specifically got guava, grapefruit, caramel, floral, stone fruit, peach, mango, coconut, oak, pine, bubblegum, grass and trash (for the haters). Super smooth for 10.2 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 5.00)
Not quite as good as the taster but could be that this is five weeks old. Still I really liked it. Just an excellent hazy TIPA. (Overall - 4.50)
