Practical Elegance is one of our original smoothie-style ales. The second batch of this thirst-quenching brew has an intriguing plum-colored appearance and smoothie-like mouthfeel thanks to the plentiful addition of organic cherry and raspberry purees—both swirled into suspension after fermentation. Being ⅓ fruit by volume, expect to be greeted by wafts of cherry pie and boysenberry that give way to flavors of raspberry sorbet, berry medley and meyer lemon; its thick body is filled with perfectly complementary elements of tartness and sweetness. Indulge in this elegantly crafted creation in the afternoon hours...or for breakfast!

Picked up a few Pure Project cans at Windmill Farms coming from work. Pure’s website calls it “Practical Elegance is one of our original smoothie-style ales. Poured a medium-to-deep garnet color with one finger of frothy-to-fizzy off-white pink head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class spotty lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled freshly picked raspberry, plum, cherry pie, cinnamon, boysenberry, peach, lemon, raspberry sorbet and sugary raspberry jam. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted a little better than the nose. Damn this was nice. In order got raspberry, plum, cherry pie, raspberry sorbet, boysenberry, cinnamon spice, peach, lemon, raspberry jam and floraly perfume. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.75)
About as good as I thought it would be. Really nice. (Overall - 4.50)

Well balanced, delivers on the cherry and raspberry. Alcohol comes through a little too much on the finish and lacks a little complexity, but very drinkable.
