Collaboration with The Eighth State Brewing Company
We are introducing a beautiful barrel-aged imperial stout with our friends at The Eighth State Brewing Company. Circular Paradigm exquisitely exemplifies bourbon character along with a set of adjuncts for emphasis. Aged with organic Sri Lankan coconut and organic Vermont maple, this stout's jet-black body exudes aromas of toasted oak, brown sugar, and coconut. With flavors of maple custard, French toast, and chocolate-covered honeycomb, this decadent stout will have you circling back for another sip.

Type: 10-oz. draft
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (water) glass
Price: $20.00 for the beer and the glass (I think $12 for the glass, $8 for the beer)
From: Pure Project Balboa Park in Balboa Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Nov. 9, 2021
Consumed: Nov. 9, 2021
Misc.: Collab with The Eighth State; Went on release day for the first of four elemental glasses
Went to Pure Project for a glass they were handing out. They are doing four elemental glasses each Tuesday in November, in order water (this one), fire, earth and air. Their website called it “We are introducing a beautiful barrel-aged imperial stout, brewed with our friends at The Eighth State Brewing Company. Poured a very dark color (almost black) with one finger of khaki tan frothy head when I got it. Could see a few bubbles on the side of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled coconut, maple syrup, vanilla, toasted oak, smooth bourbon, brown sugar, Honey Graham Ohs cereal, chocolate syrup, caramel, toffee, hints of cinnamon and French toast. Their description nailed it. (Smell - 4.50)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Damn. In order got coconut, maple syrup, brown sugar, French toast, vanilla, smooth bourbon with just a touch of that 13 pct. ABV, toasted oak, sugary chocolate syrup, caramel, toffee, Honey Graham Ohs cereal and lingering cinnamon. (Taste - 4.50)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was a fantastic bourbon barrel-aged stout. Glad I tried this one. (Overall - 4.50)
