Journey to new terrain with our new murky IPA, Valle De La Sol. Featuring some of our favorite hops—Nelson Sauvin, Strata, and Mosaic—this pillowy, pale-colored ale has tropical scents of pineapple jelly candy, mango mochi, and lychee. Flavors of frozen lemonade, white peach and gooseberry make for a refreshing reprieve from the hot desert sun.

Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (water) glass
Price: $22.00 for a 4-pack
From: Pure Project Brewing in Balboa Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: n/a; Received June 2, 2022
Consumed: June 2, 2022
Misc.: Canned on May 10, 2022; Split (1/4) with Sonny (2/4) and Kevin (1/4)
Got a can of this from Sonny. Had a taster of it at Pure Project North Park on May 27, giving it a 4 on Untappd and writing “Wanted a little more from this hop combo but still outstanding for haze.” Pure Project’s website called for “Journey to new terrain with our new murky IPA, Valle De La Sol. Poured a light golden hazy color with three fingers of uneven, rocky white head. Could see lots of bubble streams coming up the sides of the glass. World-class uneven foamy white lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Strata jumped out somewhat from the nose for the mentioned hops, followed by Nelson and Mosaic. Also peach, pineapple gummi bear (so dead on from Pure’s description), sugary orange, lemon zest, gooseberry, mixed berry, mango, spoiled fruit, grass and floral. Better out of the can and seemed fresher. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Still a disappointment with those hops. In order got Strata, peach, pineapple, mango, bitter grass, Nelson, gooseberry, melon, lemon candy, orange, floral and hints of mentioned Mosaic. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Abrupt, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Not one of the better hazy IPAs I’ve had from Pure Project and kind of surprising with the hops but still very good. (Overall - 4.00)
