As the name implies, Mystic Matter's jet-black appearance intrigues the mind to discover what lies beyond: a complex brew that’s perfect for bourbon and coffee lovers alike. Its vast depth of character was developed from resting in multiple Breckenridge bourbon barrels for up to 15 months, plus the harmonious addition of organic Tahitian vanilla bean and Três Barras coffee from our friends at Steady State. Beyond its heavenly aromas of tiramisu, charred oak, and vanilla macaroon, you’ll find flavors of bourbon, fudge, and brown sugar revealed with each delectable sip.

Finished off a flight at Pure Project with this beer as I let it warm up. Pure Project’s website called this one “Introducing our first-ever coffee and vanilla barrel-aged imperial stout, Mystic Matter. Poured a pitch black color with one finger of khaki-tan frothy head when I got it. Calm setting underneath. Excellent lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled dark chocolate, caramel, tiramisu, vanilla, oak, fudge, Fudgesicles, brown sugar and Fudge Rounds. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted dark chocolate, espresso, caramel, tiramisu, vanilla, chocolate cream pie, oak, fudge, Fudgesicles, Fudge Rounds, toasted brown sugar, plum and dark fruit. Smooth for 12.9 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Another nice stout from Pure Project. (Overall - 4.25)
