Misc.: Went on release day for the third of four elemental glasses
Went to Pure Project for a glass they were handing out. They are doing four elemental glasses each Tuesday in November, in order water, fire, earth (this one) and air. Couldn’t find anything on their website about this beer, which is unusual. Untappd description was just “Unfiltered West Coast IPA w/ Simcoe, Mosaic, Nelson & Citra.”
Poured a clear medium yellow color with two fingers of rocky-to-frothy white head when I got it. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Perfect layered foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Simcoe stood out right away on the nose. Also Nelson, lesser Mosaic and a touch of Citra for the hops. Specifically bitter pine, onion, garlic, viney berry, papaya, black pepper, grapefruit rind, floral and grass. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order Simcoe, pine, onion, garlic, black pepper, grass, hay, Mosaic (more than the nose), mango, floral, Nelson, viney berry, papaya, grapefruit rind, Citra and lemon zest. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Dry, oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, dry finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was really nice IPA overall. Just excellent. (Overall - 4.25)
