And now for a Pluot Twist! A new sour beer blend starring California-grown organic pluots, aged up to 14 months in two types of oak barrels—cider and cherry wine—from Mission-Trail Ranches in Bradley, CA. Spoiler alert: This brew has gracefully aged into quite the complex creation, with layers of flavor beyond the featured hybrid fruit. Complementary aromas of white nectarine and pear arise from its straw color and bright white head. Expect this ale to deliver essences of lemon-lime zest and Riesling wine-like minerality on the tongue with a fair amount of funk. But don’t take the full beer review from us…Pluot Twist produces a unique experience for every palate—you’ll just have to taste it for yourself.

375ml bottle served in a snulip. Bottle is dated 5/6/2022, batch #1. I think I bought it in San Diego a couple years ago, maybe at a Bottlecraft.
Pours clear dark gold, medium sized head on the pour and no head at all after a few minutes. Lots of carbonation. Smell is soft, floral, sweet-tart, delicately fruity. Reminds me a bit of cherry blossoms.
Taste is more intense than the aroma suggested. Has some definite funk and wood, floral is really hollering for attention. There's a barky / fruit skin bitterness to it, really plays into the acidic tartness and makes for a substantial (but restrained) assault on the taste buds. Stone fruit is pretty evident, but hard to identify (maybe because pluot's pretty niche).
Mouthfeel is light and smooth, just a hint of cotton mouth dryness. Very nice beer.
