Finger on the Pulse is a unique farmhouse saison brewed in collaboration with Brandon Hernandez of San Diego Beer News. Bringing Brandon’s vision for this celebratory saison to life, we sourced French saison yeast from the Calais region in France, and complemented the yeast's notes by adding Mega Motueka hops (a blend of Motueka hops + Phantasm aka sauvignon blanc grape skins) into the brew.

clean and delicious saison, as good as i expected it to be, and this is the side of pure project i most look forward to, sick to find this on tap! this is clear and very pale blonde with a airy bubbly white head from the tap, low shine, delicate to me. the nose is estery and thiol forward, hoppy and new school, but also old worldy on the ferment, with notes of green pear and white grape along with white pepper and subtle coriander seed, no real funk to speak of, certainly no acidity, still farmy to me though, clean as it is, and the hops make it crazy fresh, motueka and phantasm together apparently, definitely vinous in that way, herbal, floral, soft but pungent at the same time, subtle lemongrass and coconut to me, really appealing and distinctive even without the presence of wild yeast character. the flavor is hoppy without being bitter, definite southern hemisphere, with juicy kiwi, green grape, green apple, and melon rind, cut flowers, and citrus juiciness, nice with the compatible vinous esters of this yeast, peppercorn and even like cardamom or something to it, earthy and grounded by light wheat malt and some crackery pils type barley it seems, lighter body overall, gentle feeling, with effervescent carbonation and a very dry finish, some thiol character from the hops late, thank the phantasm for that, real complimentary to the rest of the beer. distinctive and contemporary, neat take on saison here, highly drinkable, very well done. always a treat to drink on pure project stuff!

Clear golden yellow brew with abundant foam in the Tripel Karmeliet tulip. An odd but inviting fruity taste which turns out to be the grapes. Dark and wheaty flavor with a slight malty sweetness and the usual dry finish. A crisp Belgian taste but not overly yeasty. This is just a really clean and drinkable Saison. None of the hops and skins detract from the pleasure. From the 16 oz can purchased at the beer store.
