Thanks to leftpaw for getting me this series of beers. Cracked one open at a tailgate at the end of the football season last year.
Pours a golden color. 1/2" white head. A good looking beer hitting that standard appearance. The aroma was woody, saison yeast, lemon, pear, hay, stone fruit brettiness. No fruit added, so those stone fruit aromas must be brett methinks.
Taste is impressive. Significant bready wheat but without the heft or viscosity. Lemon and hay bright tartness. Still brett rounding it out with this breathy unsweetened light leather apricot skin on it. Good woodiness remains prominent. While this has plenty of tartness, they stayed away from pumping this as a wild ale. Sawfter tones than the fear of high sourness and acidity. Brett keeps the peach and apricot innards banging away.
So I'm impressed with what I think is the first beer from this brewery. I'm not sure the environment in this area can support expensive beer like this for long, so get 'em while you can. When we ignore supply/demand at the macro level, you'll get a depressing market correction soon enough. Thanks gubmint.

Purchased this at Susan’s Wine Shop in Santa Fe, NM. Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Slightly cloudy yellow color with with decent initial head but little lacing. Funky lemon smell and taste. Floral and earthy, classic farmhouse ale. Not as rustic or multi- layered as something from Jester King, but not bad at all. I enjoy beers from this brewery!
