L: Had this beer on-tap at The Answer Brewpub, poured into a snifter glass. Had a dark yellow color and a murky, cloudy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A subtly enticing aroma of hops, citrus fruit, tea, malt, and a sweet, sugary quality.

T: Tasted of a bit of malt (not overly prevalent), a good shot of green tea (very subtle), a decent amount of hops, the aforementioned sugary quality, and some citrus (lime). This is a focused, straightforward flavor. The green tea adds an interesting dynamic to the flavor. Sweet and delicious.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is a well made, easy to drink IPA. Not as aggressive as most DIPAs, but definitely drinkable.

On Tap. Pours cloudy orange-yellow...looks like a NE IPA. Thin head dissipates quickly. Aroma of pears, peaches, pineapple, roses and marmalade.
Taste: Crisp, tart, sour peaches, pear, lacto makes me salivate. ZERO acetic/vinegar. Well balanced carbonation. Juicy, citrusy Sweet Tarts.
At 8.4% this is a sneaky drink!
Absolutely Fabulous!

On tap at Albany Ale and Oyster in Albany, NY.

This one pours a super hazy and murky yellow color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like lime candy, Palomas and grapefruit mimosas, lemon zest, green tea, and grassy hops.

This flavor combination works exceptionally well here, as motueka hops naturally give off lime flavors to begin with, creating a huge candied and sour lime feel in this beer. There’s also a lot of sour and creamy grapefruit hop character, with the green tea a subtle and well done presence on the back end.

This is super creamy, with a high level of drinkability. The tartness level is spot on.

This might be my favorite beer yet from HVB. It’s a definite winner.

L - what a sp00ky and mysterious can. Yup, that's hazy. Thick, solid brick of yellowy orange paint. Fragile and fluffy head with big bubbles.

S - whoa, wave of nostalgia back to the town pool of my youth. Fond memories of jaunting over to the snack bar to pick up various teeth-rotting sweets. Warheads, baby bottle pops, fun dip, oh man. Tart apricots, melons, and sugar. Gah.

T - tart city. What punches hardest is the lime. Reminds me of those Lime Tostitos. Moving forward, there are loads of candy sweetness. Runts, sweet tarts, those little round disc-shaped generic tart candies. Toes that artificial sweetener line, but I think comes out on the right side.

F - unfortunately the weakest part of this beer! That huge flavor just pumps into your veins and then POOF nothing. The mouthfeel falls apart somewhere in the middle and the beer seems to separate from itself, filling in between the molecules with air. This usually precedes overcarbonated fizz, but that thankfully stays away. The whole beer just kinda dies, but it seems that's par for the course with any sort of sour beer. Not ideal, but doesn't hurt the beer.

O - definitely thrown off a bit by this one. Was not expecting such monstrously sweet fruity flavors aggressively balanced by tartness. Neither overpowers and it ends up a tasty brew with something to offer everybody. Sweet, sour, tart, juice, a touch of hops. Good stuff.

Tall can...12/6/17 on the bottom

Clouded NE IPA look all the way

Ripe pineapple on the nose with a hint of lactic sour in the rear.

Tasty and complex IPA with a lot going on, fruity n sweet, then more then a hint of sour comes through, moderately dry hopped up finish, with some more sweet fruit/sour in the lasting finish.

Well crafted, interesting and different, envelope pushing....worth seeking out to at least give these types of beers a try...
