It's been a while since I've had a straight up sour IPA without all of the fruit nonsense. This was done very well. Has that wet straw smell that I'm not the biggest fan of, but usually the sign of a much better tasting beer. Tart citrus and a little bit funky with no strange aftertaste. Dare I say a "clean" sour ipa. The right level of carbonation and a sour I have been looking for but haven't found in a while. Hudson Valley knows what they are doing with this style.

A 16 fl. oz. can, with no clear canned on or best before date. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.

Appearance: A hazy straw yellow colour with a big three finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left only sparse spotty lacing.

Aroma: Tart, sour, guava, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, and citrus zest.

Taste: Sour, tart, lemon, lime, grapefruit, with notes of guava.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with spritzy moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: Nice enjoyable and easy drinking Sour IPA with good citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavours.

Crowler from the source.

This one pours a very hazy and milky burnt orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like sour grapefruit, cream, orange creamsicle, lemony hops, and piney hops.

This is a little bit more basic and "down to earth" than some of HVB's sour IPAs, and that's a good thing, really. It's super juicy, with flavors of orange creamsicle, stone fruit, sour grapefruit, and lemon candy, with a light piney bitterness on the finish.

This is light bodied, crisp and pretty clean, with a good level of carbonation and a high level of drinkability.

Nobody is doing these sorts of beers as well as HVB is doing them.
