Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: North Park 9-oz. butterscotch snifter glass
Price: $4.00 (I think)
From: Preferred Liquors in Santee, Calif.
Purchased: n/a; Received Nov. 23, 2022
Consumed: Dec, 3, 2022
Misc.: No canned on date
Got this one from Sonny. Had tried this twice before, giving tasters at 3.75 on Untappd on May 29, 2017 (That’s a lot of coconut. Very good though.) and Nov. 3, 2020. Resident’s website called it a “Piña Colada inspired West Coast IPA with tropical hops and toasted coconut.”
Poured a light amber clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Could see plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides and bottom of the class at pretty quick speeds. Very good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled coconut, pineapple, peach, orange and vanilla. Not much else going on. About as good from the can. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted much better than the can. More flavor. In order got toasted coconut, pineapple, Piña Colada, vanilla, orange and peach. No idea of hops, but Motueka has to be the main one. (Taste - 4.00)
Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 4.25)
I really liked this. Probably more than I thought I would even after having two tasters before. Outstanding at least. (Overall - 4.00)

On tap at the brewery. Pours deep golden with white head. Aroma and taste is of coconut, bready malt, tropical fruit and citrusy hops. Finish is long, semi-dry. Interesting brew.

Sweet tropical nose...nothing stood out and I didn't get any coconut on the aromatics. Taste follows, but with a citrus bite. I didn't pick up the coconut notes, unfortunately.

Appearance: Arrives with just a slight chill hazy; the goldenstraw colored liquid has a small cap and leaves a few spots
Smell: Pineapple and coconut with a touch of orange
Taste: Pithy orange with the pineapple and coconut tones building; low bitterness allows the pina colada character to linger into the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: An interesting twist but not something I would seek out more than once

A hop assault of exotix fruit and piney, grassy, sticky flavor. Very surprised by this creation.
