Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Blonde Ale
Glass: Great Divide 12-oz. Brussels glass
Price: $3.99 (I think)
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: March 10, 2021
Consumed: March 12, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Feb. 9, 2021
Snuck over to Windmill Farms for some North Park beers and one of these. Resident’s website called it a “Golden Ale brewed with Raspberries, Cacao Nibs, Toasted Coconut, and Vanilla Beans.” I’m a sucker for raspberry beers so I think I’ll really like this.
Poured a clear amber color with two fingers of frothy-to-fizzy off-white head. Just a few slow-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very bad lacing. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.00)
Smelled coffee, cacao nibs, toasted coconut, vanilla bean, bitter dark chocolate, raspberry syrup, black raspberry and lightly toasted malts. Not as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Much more raspberry than the smell. In order got raspberry, vanilla, raspberry soft-serve ice cream, toasted coconut, cacao nibs, chocolate, black raspberry, hints of black coffee, lightly roasted malts and more coconut late. Super smooth for 7 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.75)
I know I love raspberry beers, but this was awesome. I’ll be getting some more of this for sure. (Overall - 4.50)
