tasty saison, must be high rye, spicy and peppery and nice for the fall, a little stronger, reddish colored and nicely malty, almost a biere de garde vibe about it, estery and sort of french to belgian with the yeast, smooth and a little sweet, with less carbonation than i like in the style, which was true of a number of the beers we had in here, but overall a success and one of the better ones i had while visiting this rad little neighborhood spot. pretty glow on this and a cool deep red color that stops short of being amber, its gorgeous, near clear, and distinctive looking. the aroma and flavor are both obvious on the rye, and earthy pale rye but lots of it, well supported by some toasted elements but this isnt rich, its spicy, and i think the synergy between the yeast and the malt is excellent, thats what makes this for me. white wine character in the ferment, a little astringency but not sour or anything, drying is all, there is also white pepper which, golden raisin, and dried citrus layers here, medium body, light on the carbonation, but the alcohol is really well hidden. deeply earthy, vinous, bright, and interesting, it lingers a little fruity on the palate, and although it warms up just slightly harsh with all the husky rye, its a cool beer and bold recipe. a nice autumn sipper, some great seasonal selections in here, good vibes, handmade food, recommended!
