Its not surprising that a sour mood would lead to a sulking attitude. But would that apply to ale? Mile Wide's sour ale boasts a quiet and calm namesake but it does scream stone fruit; so probably not.
Their Peach & Apricot Quiet Science ale swirls with a brisk, tangy, citrusy, fruity and vinous perfume that dances lively above a pale and hazy straw hue and an effervescent, bubbling froth. Light on sweetness, notions of pulled taffy, sourdough and lifesaver lays an early foundation of candied malt on the front of the tongue.
Sweetness quickly scampers off, chased away by a crisp and concise sourness of green apple, white grape, lime, lemon and gooseberry that strikes the middle palate with a dry french cider, chardonnay vinous tone. The overcast of both peach and apricot largely mirror each other with an orange-like but succulent tang and a racy acidity that's unmistakably of peach. Light on bitterness, the rindy tannins of fruit aid in balance while a succinct sourness fuels a clean and crisp taste late on the palate.
Medium light in body, the beer is off of dry considered to traditional berlinerweiss. But cleaner than most "wild" ale, a dedicated lactic acid twang brings a highly refreshing, fruit forward finish with faint wafts of sea air and dry burlap in a brief echo of aftertaste.

16 ounce can, no dating on it that I noticed but I purchased a 4-pack of this a couple weeks ago at the Mile Wide taproom. Served in a Mile Wide pint glass, the beer pours a hazy gold color with about an inch white head that stuck around a while. There's also a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells mostly like peach and apricot, along with a bit of bready malt. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma with the peach and apricot flavors being the strongest, but there's also some earthy flavor noticeable. It's tart and fruity! Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's coating and easy to drink. I thought this was a good, enjoyable sour ale. Hope to pick up some more the next time I'm in Louisville!
