Perfect for those weekend brunch occasions, the decision of whether to turn to either beer or wine might be the most daunting task of late morning. But Mile Wide Beer takes the guesswork out of question with a sparkling, dry, raspberry infused ale that blends both worlds of beer and wine.
Pouring a light and hazy mauve, their Brut Rosé Ale brings a pleasant field and fauna scent of red berries, natural tanginess, light cereal and a mild flowery bouquet across the nose. A tease of cereal, wheat, raw grain along with a kiss of agave and angel food sweetness allows for a rounded and smooth early palate.
But the tide quickly turns as the ale hits middle palate; and that's when raspberries take center stage. The bright, tangy and radiant flavor of the fruit rides high above a slightly drying blonde ale character that skirts underneath. Mildly hopped, the finish is faintly bitter and moderately tart with the natural peppery character of raspberry seeds adding a mild tannic bite.
Medium bodied and trending playfully tart, the malty dry ale does a reasonably good job of displaying a propped up rose wine character and suppressed beer flavor and feel for a gentle sangria attitude with a medium length bitterness of berry and cereal once more.
