Blonde goes big, with the help of Sonablast Records and Kiana & the Sun Kings, when Mild Wide Beer is in charge. Laced with passionfruit, the often somber beer gets a racy edge.
Pouring a mostly bright but slightly foggy gold, The Caterpillar's Mojo builds a fluffy white cap with a bright and tangy scent of tropical fruit, light cereal and grain. A general light and pilsner-like base taste takes on hints of faint honey, cereal and wafer to start things off.
As the flavors develop, its the radiant and succulent tropical fruit of passionfruit that steals the show. Playfully tart, bright with a tropical flare and racy on the tongue, the middle palate shift quickly toward the fruit. Trending lightly bitter and tart, the subtle back and forth of these two flavors frame a refreshing closure to taste.
Medium light in body, the beer registers lighter and drier than actual with the help of the fruit acidity that has the beer siding slightly with sour ale. But with a brisk, tart and creamy dryness, the beer finishes sweet and tart with a light linger of green fruit peel.
