No bottling date (released on 12/30/2020, so presumably bottled within a few weeks of that date); consumed on 11/6/21
Pours a deep black body topped with a finger of pale mocha foam; solid head retention leaves a creamy half-finger of cap, expansive, fluffy collar, and no lacing whatsoever holding to the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens to dried cacao saturated in fruity umami with nutty undertones as touches of splintery oak sport dark fruit esters of the middle; a wispy bourbon expanse most prominent on the back end of the bouquet grazes syrupy dark fruits on the close.
Taste of rich milk chocolate tinged with bourbon caramel overwhelms upfront, leaving minimal room for hints of burnt vanilla peeking through over the mid-palate; airs of cherry and dark fruit highlight the back end, deepening to mushy fig and culminating with tones of raisin syrup on the finish.
Mouthfeel offers a full body with a fluffy density and minimal carbonation dispersing a light prickle into a slick, level texture over the mid-palate as a growing, soft warmth across the back end engages a rounded finish, trending sticky before ultimately drying.
Comprehensively dense yet palatable in composure, the double-mashed base promotes an almost sickly chocolate undertone trending saccharine, and a profile salvaged not through the relatively tepid barrel character, but with the twangy tannic nature of dark fruits throughout; solidly rich overall, though leaning too heavily on overt decadence to be consistently enjoyable.
