On-tap at Blue Smoke Flatiron, New York, NY
A: The beer is clear copper amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that died down, leaving a patch of bubbles in the center and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of biscuit malts are present in the nose along with notes of pale malts and hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste has flavors of biscuit malts along with some notes of toffee and hints of caramel. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is very easy to drink. It pairs well with BBQ food with the light bite and bitterness from the hops.
Serving type: on-tap

Brooklyn Brewery "Blue Smoke"
Although I've had this at Blue Smoke before, I was lucky enough this time to be given the opportunity to pay $12 for it at their J.F.K. outpost while waiting for a flight!
Notes: Distinctly Brooklyn yeast. Clear amber body beneath a short head of bright white. Better than average lacing. Aroma is malty with a hint of golden caramel and a yeasty mineralish component. The flavor delivers the same malt: slightly cracker-like, golden sweet and honeyish with the same flint-like mineral edge. I can't tell if it's a lager a lager... it's not particularly fruity although there is some apple. Mild English noble hop character. Median bitterness balances it. Dry finish. Overall, straight-forward, clean, and well-balanced.

Surprised by this excellent tasting beer! This beautifully colored beer could be my new favorite of Brooklyn Brewery beer.

Had at Citi Field at a Mets-DBacks game from Blue Smoke.
Shows up as a dark ruby brown, nice white head. Nice sweet malty, biscuit flavor. A really nice sweet caramel malt flavor. This is a great beer to pair with spicy tangy bbq. Very smooth to drink, light carbonation. One could drink several of this with a rack of Ribs. Great example of creating a beer to go with a food style.

Reviewed from notes. Had this one at CitiField at a Mets - Cubs game.
Served in a plastic cup. Pours golden with a white head that sticks around.
Aroma is faint, with some malt sweetness apparent. Flavor is complex, but not interesting. It is malty, crisp, and biscuity, with some alcohol flavors.

I had this on tap at Blue Smoke in NYC. I don't know if I would classify it as an ESB. It's actually very sweet...very floral and fruity. Has a strong citrus taste that, quite frankly goes perfect with the ribs and pulled pork at Blue Smoke.
This is an average beer by itself, but I do think that it blends perfectly with the meal served at the restaurant and since this isn't a mass produced brew, that's the point. So I would give it a solid B, though I would not buy a six pack of this.

On tap at Citi Field. This is the worst of the 3 Brooklyn beers available at Citi Field. Pours a clear orange with a thick white head. Watery palate, very carbonated, and bland. Not very flavorful at all, just generic sweet caramel malt. It's drinkable, sure, but certainly not worth the $7.50.
