Sampling a 16 oz can poured at cellar temperature into my snifter. I picked up the can at a local beer store in PA. I like hazelnuts in beer so I went for it. the can is not date stamped or labeled so no idea how old can is. But the brewery in Texas is apparently closed and this is labeled as brewed in Houston, Texas location. Hopefully this holds up ok.
The beer pours a dark coffee brown with no light passing through and a dense creamy beige head of 3 cm foams up and fades slowly to a sturdy surface covering. I also get a lot of clingy dense lattice on swirls and sips.
Aroma on this beer is what I expected with some sweet chocolate, a bit of a husky nut scent and some earthy cinnamon. No cinnamon is mentioned on label, so that was unexpected. Also no hints of the ABV nor any hop character.
First sip reveals a medium body with very soft and smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is soft and spacious. Very gentle physical traits.
Flavor is chocolate malt and candy bar, some darker chocolate and roast, a small bit of hazelnut and here I get a bit of minty note on the finish... Is my palate messed up? I dont get any hops but Im sure of the mint flavor on every swallow. ABV is a little warming on the finish as well. Im taking a little off the flavor since mint isnt mentioned on label.
The cinnamon nose and mint flavor are weird and throwing me off, but otherwise this is a decent beer. Wish the hazelnut was much more prominent.

Had on tap at Urban South.

Tastes like if you took a very high quality, rich dark chocolate ice cream, let it get melty, and then turned that into a beer. It's has this rich creamy chocolately finish that is just wonderful.

Definitely going to find this in a can and review more formally, but damn guy, WOW.
