Brewed with bourbon-aged cacao nibs and served over a shot of espresso from Northern Bayou when purchased at the brewery.

Growlette brought home and through a share, we both poured into tulips. Only thing doing it this way, we didn't get our "shots" of espresso that FB pours right there at the brewery. Eh, oh well, whatever, consider this a true traditional review in the sense of not having non-adjuncts added.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a quickly dissolving little white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Not much lace.
The aroma had a nice settling smooth sweet to roasty balance of pecans, dark chocolate, coffee bean, sweet woody dryness with a touch of vanilla at the end. Light earthiness even fainter.
The flavor was mildly sweet with a balancing sort of roastiness coming in faintly to try and make a good overall balance. Mild aftertaste of some roast/char/sweet wood.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt on par. Super nice finish of some sweet wood, light vanilla and coffee beans.
Overall, well, hell, who needs that extra shot of espresso, if this is gonna turn out this damn good!

amazing looking beer, dark pour with a creamy dark brown head and sudsy bubbles atop. aromas and palate are creamy chocolate, leather, toasty malts, hint of vanilla, some roasty almost coffee like notes coming through. overall very smooth and creamy, and the mouthfeel matches this description. excellent stuff!
