Growler brought home.
This was poured into a glass mug.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a fair finger's worth of light yellowed wood colored foamy head. This mildly dissipated to leave some nice looking strings of lace roaming around the glass.
The aroma had the briny/saline-like oyster-ish quality I was expecting and wasn't afraid to delve further. Some dark chocolate nibs came in with a moderate roast feeling it's way in and around the design of the beer.
The flavor was a blend of the sweet, the dark chocolate bitterness with the salty/brininess making a small play in and around the overall taste. The aftertaste was a fair blend of dark chocolate and some saltiness.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. I wonder if the dark chocolate became distracted by the saltiness, not sure. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Mild finish of the dark chocolate, somewhat bitter.
Overall, as an oyster stout, I'd say Foam hit the mark. It's one I'd give another chance preferably in cooler temps.
