On tap at the brewery. Black body. Smells nothing like it looks. Smells of corn and spicy hops. Like a Pilsner. I'd say it tastes like that too, but it's got some issues. Corn, some green vegetable flavor, spicy hop, and a little bit of roasted malt. Medium light and soft carbonation. The black lager aspect seems to be in color only.

On tap at the brewery.
This was poured into what looked to be a stange. I didn't argue, figured close enough for the style.
The appearance was a fairly dark brown close to black color with a substantial finger's worth of eggshell white foamy head that slid off mildly.
The aroma had a nice blend of roasted dark chocolate, burnt toast, roast, earthiness and a mild German dried cake-like yeastiness.
The flavor was mildly roasty with a substantial burnt toast, then ash, the German yeastiness with the earthiness again. Mild aftertaste of the burnt toast, German yeast and ash.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fairly good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good, somewhat low but not too much. ABV felt on par.
Overall, pretty good as a Schwarzbier, it's one I would come back to.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a large foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like sweet milk chocolate, light smoke, roasted malt, and earthy hops.
This is really creamy in a great way- such a soft chocolate flavor, with enough roast to balance it out, and just a wisp of smokiness. It's simple, but clean and clearly well brewed. There's a touch of hop bitterness as well.
This is medium bodied, soft and pillowy, with a great level of drinkability and a soft carbonation.
Foam seems to always nail their lagers. It's not what they're known for, but they do it exceedingly well.

32oz growler. Pours a black color with brown hues and an inch of light brown head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is chocolate and malts with some grassy hops. The taste is very Pilsner-y with some dark chocolate and roasted malts. Grassy hops towards the end with some light citrus. Some burnt coffee. Roasted malts and sourdough finish. Light to medium body with almost no alcohol presence. Really easy drinker. This would work great as a warm weather brew. Overall, really good Schwarzbier.
