Growler poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a fairly thick dark brown pour then reflected about the same color in the body, perhaps a bit darker and closer to black with a small stifled tan to eggshell white foamy head swiftly sliding off. Just a wisp of concave lace.
The aroma had a nice sweet orange pulpy juice up front but not so bold, just showing it's in front of the roasty coffee beans and dark chocolate nibs. Some pine but a bit scaled back than most black IPA's, I didn't mind.
The flavor combines the roasty side of coffee beans and dark chocolate nibs to a sly sweetness of orange pulp. Really nice and yet unique to me since I haven't had many black IPA's with a bolder sweet orange pulp in it.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with the normal sipping quality that tends to come with the style, which is a good thing. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt as projected. Dry, crisp and roasty to piney finish with the normal palate wrecking capabilities.
Overall, a very nicely done black IPA that I would come back to.
