Treated this as an imperial version of an ADWA and so this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color capped by a small off white foamy head. Mild soft lace.
The aroma had some zesty sweet orange pulp and peel. Fabulous amount of dark semi-sweet cocoa nibs. Some sweet wheat scaling the backbone.
The flavor blended the oranges and the cocoa nibs sweet and zesty. Modest sweet wheat. Nice aftertaste of cocoa nibs, orange zest and wheat.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Mostly smooth along my tongue. Wheaty to orange and cocoa -ish finish.
Overall, nice take on a style not usually seen that much anymore. If anything, I'm hoping more brewers capitalize on this style.
