Desolation Angels: Scene One is the first barrel-aged stout to be released from our brewery in bottles. The barrels that housed this beer for the last year are something special. They spent their early days at Mad River Distillers, aging Bourbon, before moving to their next home at Runamok Maple. We received them immediately after the barrels were emptied, still dripping with delicious organic maple syrup. After a year, Desolation Angels: Scene One then sat atop Moka Java coffee beans from Vermont Artisan Coffee & Tea, prior to bottling.⠀
The beer that came as a result is decadent. On the nose, notes of cherry and black raspberry combine with distinctively bourbon derived aromas of vanilla and caramel. Rich flavors of dark coffee, chocolate, and maple are present before a warming yet smooth finish.
We would like to thank our friend Andrew Mullen, the artist behind this label.
