pretty meaty for a pale ale here, and to me definitely on the edge of the ipa range, beautifully fresh and extremely well made, but lots of beer in the glass as pale ales go. part of that is from the body, which is beefed up by a heft oat addition, so this is smooth and creamy and fuller feeling, which i think lets the hops set in a little earlier than normal. i like that it has some bitterness too, usually the hazy dry hop forward ones really dont, but this finishes with a little hoppy bite, so its the best of both worlds, again making it lean more toward ipa than pale to me. real hazy looking in the glass from the tap, an airy inch of white head on it, but pretty dense to me, in the right light though it has a brilliant backlit glow and looks a little more gentle than it actually is. the hop profile is awesome here both in nose and flavor, juicy melon, gin botanicals, lemongrass, honeysuckle, green grape, and a bit of a mowed grassy thing, some trace pine as well. it finishes more intense than it starts but none of its nuance is lost in the intensity or bitterness. palate coating but dry on the swallow, minimal on the ferment, and fresh as can be at the source here. not the best of their hoppy beers ive had, but they continue to put out some really unique and robust beers in these styles, and i always leave here impressed and stoked!
