04/27/22 on bottom of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Pale hazy straw yellow with 1-2 finger frothy white head with good retention and ornate lacing.
S: Strong hop aromas of pineapple, guava, tangerine, grapefruit, melon, and berry all mingle with an light undercurrent of herbal character. Esters are low-moderate and fruity.
T: Flavor is also strong and echoes the nose with pineapple, tangerine, melon, white grapefruit, and berry with that herbal note in the background and finish. Esters are a little more powerful in the flavor and fruit salad and bubblegum. Bitterness is low. Alcohol is felt more than tasted but there is a bit of cherry-berry alcohol in the finish and aftertaste. What do you expect at 10%!
M: Feel is lush without feeling thick or sloppy/flabby. Carbonation is even and moderate with medium-full body but reasonably dry finish.
O: Betsy is the biggest beer I have had in awhile — bold and boozy but very flavorful and a delight. Might be a little better with the ABV toned down 1-2% but what the hell?! Worth a try!
