16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $5.80 plus tax. Canned on 9/11/25, so this beer is just over two months ago.
Look: Very dark, basically super dark brown to jet black with a light brown colored head that eventually dissipated to a thin ring. The beer looks like it has decent thickness to it.
Smell: Nice aromas of coffee and chocolate fudge. Lots of roasted barley also and perhaps a bit of earthy hoppiness. Subtle caramel and vanilla notes also. Smells very clean and enticing.
Taste: It's very tasty - it has great richness and a tempered acidity. Some fruitiness up front (blueberry, Bing cherries). Notes of licorice and anise up front/mid-palate, which definitely works well alongside the coffee and chocolatey porter notes. Definitely a bit astringent on the finish, which is to be expected with a coffee porter. It's dry but not overly mouth-drying. I also get a lot of fudge brownie notes on the finish, along with bitter unsweetened baker's chocolate. I think that I got a small boost of sweetness after pouring the bottom of the can.
Feel: The mouthfeel is excellent - it's got a nice medium plus body with a bit of creaminess and a very smooth, fine-bubbled carbonation.
Overall: Don't make the same mistake that I did and drink this beer too cold. Even putting into the fridge for half an hour may be too long. This is a really nice coffee porter. It has good coffee flavor that really balances well with the American Porter flavors here - it's interesting because this beer has strong roasted barley and hoppy notes that could clash with the dark malty notes. But everything works here. It's been super long since I've had it, but this beer reminds me a bit of Victory Storm King Stout, which is obviously a different style because it's a Russian Imperial Stout and does not have coffee. Still, I recall a lot of similarities here in terms of the secondary notes and hoppiness. Overall, I would say that this beer is interesting, complex, and refreshing. It has a nice amount of flavor and body for being only 6% ABV.

6 oz draft pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours pitch black with a small head. Aroma and flavor feature bittersweet chocolate, dark roasted malts, coffee, and hints of vanilla, earthy hops, and caramel. Lots of flavor for a relatively modest abv. Impressive!

Pours black with a tan brown foam head. Smells like rich sweet robust roasted coffee, caramel, toffee, toasted brown sugar, roasted malts, dark chocolate, with mild earthy hops. Tastes dark and roasty, robust and full, balanced with rich coffee and roasted malts. Feels medium bodied, smooth with moderate carbonation. Overall a really great coffee porter.

"Canned On:

Moka Java"
on can's bottom.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a nearly one inch mocha head over a near black body with sticky lacing.
Nose of dark roasted malt, coffee, and slight chocolate malt.
Taste follows nose pretty closely with well balanced bitter hops, bitter chocolate and bitter coffee on the finish.
Good feel with medium carbonation.
Overall, a fine coffee porter and would highly recommend!
Cheers!!
