a strawberry lemonade shandy, my first beer from these guys and a good one as they go. i love it being so low alcohol, and even though it still has some grain to it, its easy drinking and light, fruit forward but honest and true, not cheap tasting to me at all. pinkish colored but really light, aroma of fresh pureed ripe strawberry and a sharp citric accent. the flavor matches that, tons of strawberry and it is sweet, but the lemon is natural and assertive too, and it really cuts some of that. it being so light on the malt also allows less fruit to show up strongly still, so it doesnt need to be overly intense. the lemon part is as fresh and nice as the strawberry, and they go together well. i expected to not like this very much, these flavored summer drinks are never really my thing, but the quality overall is really impressive and its still beer too. definitely the naturalness of the fruit helps, and i can see this being great as a warm weather or morning beer, even blended into a cocktail! never heard of wayzata before, but this was well above expectations. maybe the best fruited shandy i have had all season...
