Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
Price: $4.79
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: April 30, 2020
Consumed: May 15, 2020
Misc.: Canned on April 2, 2020
Grabbed a can of this with a ton of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. This would only be my second Chapman beer after giving the Crafted Pils a 3.93 on March 14, generally because their prices are always a little bit steep. Back of the can called it a West Coast IPA with mentioned hops of Wakatu, Loral and Mosaic. Mosaic is my favorite hop, I’m semi-familiar with Loral and still new to Wakatu.
Poured a dark amber-to-copper clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at slow speeds. Decent watery lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled Mosaic, mango, rose blossom, floral, mixed berry, dark fruit, plum, purple grape, Loral, caramel and toffee. Much of the same from the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste wasn’t quite as good, although I will say it got better as it went down. A little different. Almost like an Amber mixed with a West Coast IPA, maybe more of a red IPA? In order got Mosaic, rose blossom, floral, mixed berry, mango, dark fruit, plum, purple grape, caramel, toffee and hints of Loral. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Fruity, floral finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Different than what I was expecting, but very good overall. (Overall - 3.75)

Hmmmm. Kind of like Yasiel Puig, I’m not exactly sure what to think of this one. Do I like it? Or do I not? Is it misunderstood? Let’s go in for another sip... To me I’m sensing an inbetween of what they do at Knee Deep (super grassy IPA’s) to just your basic West Coast IPA. It’s like Kawhi Leonard right now; does he want to play for the Lakers or the Clippers? And you know what? Being caught inbetween is not a good thing. This bad boy ain’t the worst I’ve had, but I’d pass if another one was put in front of me.
