Also known as Hopleaf & Paddy Long's Barrel Selection 2019
Pat Berger of Paddy Long's along with Michael Roper of The Hopleaf were invited to Dovetail Brewery to help select some choice barrels of spontaneously fermented, wood barrel aged beer. After sampling over a dozen different barrels, two stood out as outstanding examples of this ancient brewing tradition. Funky, complex but not overpowering with a subtle tartness, this exclusive blend formulated by two local publicans whose passion for beer is legendary, is extremely limited and will only be sold at the brewery and Pat's and Michael's establishments for a very short time.

Side by side with Petit Gueuze. Lighter in color, golden orange with an ample amount of creamy foam, lasting surface coverage and lacing.
Aroma is acidic and lightly sweet lemon, with a musty barrel Brett funk.
Lemony tart with white grape and grapefruit pith bitterness. Bretty cheese rind, dill, and wet oak linger in the dry aftertaste. Medium bodied with a light, spritzy feel. It’s a great blend, and I slightly prefer it over the Petit Gueuze. An exciting step in the journey towards Dovetail’s first 3 year Gueuze blend. Edit: A month or two later there was some noticeable acetic acid present, but not a dealbreaker.
