Fuity, Bold , Delicious. A strong version of our Kölsch. And a beer of all our own.

Sparkling dull orange with a very tall off-white head of foam that slowly settles to a lumpy persistent blanket. Actually, the body hazes up lightly upon pouring the full can into the glass, with a few discernible floaters here or there.

Crisp and tangy, sweet hints of toffee and caramel accent this corn-forward lager that tickles the upper jaw.

A filling yet light frothy fizz comes to a semi-dry finish exhaling faintly herbal accents, despite which it remains overall semi-sweet, with a honey-drizzled toast character.

A bit darker than the Dovetail kölsch, more of a sparkling apple juice in color. Not as clean, more malty and musty, but still quite an interesting beer. Some light grape, almond, and subtle buttery notes, with some bitter grains on the finish.

Deeply hued gold pour, white head. Smell had a large malty nature to it, grains, honey, slight butter with herbal and grassy notes. Taste is very robust compared to the crushable original, has more banana esters and yeast presence to it with the more robust yet buttery and elevated malts. Feel is heavy for style, chewy yet bright. Much preferred the original kolsch but this is still a delicious brew

I don't know where to put this beer but its tasty. I haven't loved the bock beers I've tried but the dovetail kolsch I had recently is in serious contention for beer of the summer. So what to expect from a kolshbock?! Well its full flavored, with notes of grape and apple skins, smells like an oddly enchanting damp cottage basement and drinks oh so smooth. It feels druidic, or at least gallanic.
Like the daily drink of a people capable of untold extravagance. Its a terrible kolsch, but better to my tastes than any bock I've tried. Reminiscent of some of the pale Belgian strong beers perhaps? (Wait, are they gallanic?) In any case its a pleasant drink

Rich golden beer with a towering white head of big soapy bubbles
Smells like grape must (a tannic red grape) and apple skins. A little bit of damp basement thing going on. "Dank and musty" come to mind, but in a way that is somehow appealing
Taste is rich with that grape (although more toward the Concord type now) and damp earthiness. There's a sort of "spice" that reminds me vaguely of dark Belgian beer that I've learned to call "esters".
Mouthfeel is soft and full. Not sticky or over bearing but definitely full bodied.

Gotta try this right after the kolsch, thanks to falloutsnow for this one. Another can date lost

Pours a med frothy fizzy head with moderate retention, a bit of soapy lacing, fair hazy deep golden tan color

Nose brings some grainy malt, cereal grains but on the soft side, fair fruity ester notes, light herbal hops

Taste brings a lot of flavor again, grainy and a bit sweet, more cereal and straw, fair fruity esters with some citrus as well, a little creamy suspended protein haze like, light herbal hop bitterness, just a touch of alcohol perception

Mouth is med bod, a little soft creamy, med foamy carb

Overall not bad, I like it a bit more than the regular kolsch as I expect it to have more flavor and character, and pretty tasty in the end, still way too hazy

Deep saturated gold, ample foam and spotty lacing around the glass.

Fruity and floral aroma, lightly sweet and malty.
Taste is fruity and malty, slight pear and banana esters, cereal grains, light bitterness.
Medium bodied and really smooth, rounded and streamlined.
Overall this was a great beer, and interesting to try after drinking a couple cases of Dovetail Kölsch this summer.
