Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $22.00 for a mixed 4-pack
From: Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 21, 2021
Consumed: Jan. 25, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 5, 2021
Bought a Humble Sea mixed 4-pack when I saw it available at Blind Lady Ale House. I love that BLAH is doing these lately as I’m on their website every day. Untappd description was “DDH Hop-Fused DIPA double dry-hopped with Mosaic, Motueka & Copper.” I’m sure Copper hops meant Michigan Copper (Hawaiian fruit punch, black cherry, red hard candy and hibiscus resin), which I originally had and loved.
Poured a light gold foggy (you have to use fog for Humble Sea) color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Initially smelled a mix of Mosaic and Copper, but nothing too special together. However, it grew on me each whiff. In order got bubblegum, rose blossom, black cherry, Hawaiian fruit punch, mango, red Starburst and raspberry. Better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Initially the taste was the like the first notes on the nose. Just a lot of stuff together that didn’t quite work. Still got the Mosaic and Copper mix. Specifically bubblegum, rose blossom, black cherry, mango, red Starburst, Hawaiian fruit punch, raspberry and lingering peppery spice. Really wanted this to be better. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Outstanding overall, but I was really hoping for even more. (Overall - 4.00)
