Damn. Didn’t realize until I looked at the Untappd description but this beer is basically Burgeon’s Clever Kiwi with Nectaron used instead of Nelson. I gave Clever Kiwi a 4.38 so I was really looking forward to the change of hops for this. Untappd called it a “Dry Hopped Keller Pilsner with Saphir & Nectaron.” Under details, it was “We took Burgeons Clever Kiwi recipe and made it our own while utilizing our personally select Nectaron instead of Nelson.”
Poured a medium yellow clear color with 5-to-6 fingers of rocky white head. Could see a lot of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at an even pace. Perfect layered foamy spiderweb lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled that Nectaron but something was keeping it from really standing out. Still got those Burgeon characteristics though. Also nectarine, peach, mango, passion fruit, pineapple, grass and earthy pilsner malt. About the same out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Got those Burgeon characteristics. In order got Nectaron, earthy pilsner malt, dry grass, nectarine, peach, mango, pineapple and some passion fruit. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)
I really liked this but it was nowhere as good as Burgeon’s Clever Kiwi. Well that might be a stretch but I prefer Clever Kiwi (4.38) over this one (4.22). Outstanding at least. (Overall - 4.00)
