Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $20 for three Humble Sea beers (part of $80 monthly deal for three 4-packs)
From: Humble Sea Brewing Company in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Purchased: n/a; Received March 6, 2022
Consumed: March 18, 2022
Misc.: Canned on Feb. 3, 2021; Split (1/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (2/4)
Untappd description was “DDH West Coast IPA with Citra, Nectaron, Mosaic & Cashmere.”
Poured a mostly clear medium yellow color with five fingers of rocky white head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect foamy uneven lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
The Nectaron jumped out on the nose and the Citra followed. Also big grapefruit, peach, nectarine, passion fruit, Mosaic, tangerine, pineapple, floral, blackberry, lime, grass, herbal and a little bit of cat piss. Really nice on the nose. Just about as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose but still solid. In order got Nectaron, peach, nectarine, grapefruit, Citra, pineapple, Mosaic, passion fruit, tangerine rind, melon, floral, blackberry, lemon, lime, herbal, grass and a touch of cat piss. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Just an excellent IPA overall. It felt like I undervalued this somewhat. (Overall - 4.25)
